Learning experiences

A positive experience of learning was when I was in year 6/7 of Primary School. I had the same 2 teachers for few years and by the time I was in my last year our teacher gave us a lot of freedom in our learning. They would give us a topic and allow us to be creative in how we wanted to approach it, encouraging us to learn in a variety of ways, which included role play, design and technology and art. My teacher’s developed a sense of joy in learning and being in school, which inspired me to become a teacher.

A negative experience was in Secondary school, doing year 12 French. Over the years there were less pupils taking French until in my final year there were 2 of us. As a result we were combined with the younger classes, which actually meant we had to pursue independent study of each unit, in our common room without much guidance, but with deadlines that filled me with dread. I remember trying to avoid passing my French teacher as I was unsure of what I was doing and fearedI would be in trouble.
